Tomorrow!

The Pittsburgh-Matanzas Sister Cities Partnership has been in the leadership of local and national efforts to repeal the US travel ban and blockage waged against the people and nation of Cuba. In the spirit of promoting people to people engagement, we have lead numerous delegations to Cuba of Pittsburgh and Pennsylvania residents, including elective and institutional leaders, to build our movement for a long overdue change in US policy.

Up until the advent of the Trump Administration and their current attempt to turn back the progress we have made, it is overwhelmingly clear that a majority of the congress – Republican and Democrat alike – want to normalize relations by lifting the blockade and travel ban, and now are willing to negotiate all issues with Cuba based on respect for mutual sovereignty. we continue to advocate with the greater urgency -needed now more than ever!

We honor both Professor Jose Moreno and county executive Rich Fitzgerald for helping to lead the educational, political, and advocacy needed to affect this change.
