Brief info

Now retired, Dr. De Ciantis was the first Director of the Penn State Center – Pittsburgh. The Center engages individuals, families, communities and businesses in learning partnerships that result in informed decisions and application of knowledge to solve critical issues for a sustainable future. He served for 28 years as Center Director and County Extension Director for Penn State Extension/Outreach of Allegheny County. Other affiliations included: past president and board member of the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank, Duquesne University Century Club of Distinguished Alumni, president and board member Autumn House Press Board, president and board member Three Rivers Community Foundation, and various other local community initiatives. He also served on numerous Penn State and Allegheny County committees. Prior to joining Penn State, he had a 12 year career with Head Start serving as a Program Coordinator for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit then as Head Start Director and Associate Director of the Division of Early Childhood for the Pittsburgh Public Schools. He has three education related degrees from Duquesne University culminating with an Interdisciplinary Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
